So I’ve made it to the end of day 8, The potato diet halfway point! The past few days have been interesting, to say the least. I’m still on track to complete the 2 weeks and still going strong and some surprising developments.
Not Feeling Top Of The Pops
With 4 days in I was feeling fine and no real cravings, days 5 and 6 were crazy! I woke up feeling fine and a few hours into the day it was like I was having a sugar crash, all I could think of was having something sweet. Now I should have probably done the opposite of what I did! I went and got myself a green tea with mint, and made my batch of potatoes. By the time I’d finished my tea and potatoes, I started to feel fine again… This lasted until I was hungry again. So I repeated…
By day 6 I was still feeling the same and feeling like I was crashing and lack of energy. At around 8PM-ish (I’m 100% on the exact time!) I started to feel fine and my energy levels were feeling back to normal. No cravings and no feeling of ‘I must have sugar!’
I had my last meal at 9PM and relaxed, set up a playlist to listen to while I’m at work for the next day and went to bed feeling 100% and looking forward to the rest of the week.
Day 7 And Feeling Fine!
Woke up on day 7 and had an amazing amount of energy and felt like I’d had a deep sleep.
No issues at all throughout the day with energy and I’m starting to realise that when I’ve felt hungry I’ve really not needed that snack and could have just had a glass of water. I’ve found that I’ve been grabbing a glass of water more and more over the past days – No bad thing!
My only real complaint is that I’ve not been for a number 2 all day yesterday and I have a feeling it won’t be until later in the day that the old bowel movements kick-in.
Potato Diet Halfway Point!
OK, so I’ve now made it to the end of day 8 of the potato diet, the halfway point…
I’m not feeling too bad really and I’m not seeing that this is all that hard. The hardest part is just having the potatoes! So I’m starting to see what people mean when they say they are sick of seeing or eating a potato. It’s not all bad mind, I think it’s more the lack of choice than anything. I keep wanting to add tuna or baked beans into the mix!
I’ve taken a look at my average calorie intake over the past few days, I know it’s low, I just wanted to see what it was. I’ve been getting through 4KG of potatoes per 4 days, so 1KG of potatoes a day. Adding in some of the ketchup and black pepper, I’m hitting around 1000-1300 calories give or take – Potato size/weight and all that.
Also found that spending a bit of time and making a good few days worth of boiled potatoes is the way forward! Just means that when you are hungry you can eat and not have to wait… It’s not long, but when you’re not eating much in the day I’ve found myself thinking hmm I can eat this raw?
Now I’m sure this is a result of having zero or near to zero sugar in my diet, but I have also started to notice my skin looking a lot better! Hard to explain but my skin feels and looks less greasy(?!?!) I guess everyone was right, all them sugary drinks are bad for ya 😉
The weight loss has been nice, I weighed in this morning at 134.7KG (297.01lbs) so that’s 1.1KG (2.42lbs) down from day 4! And so far a total of 3KG (6.61lbs) in the first week.
It would be nice to continue at this rate, but we shall see! I’ll do another update on day 11 going into the weekend and the last few days of this potato diet.
The Bottom Line
Odd few days but feeling fine and ready for the next few days ahead. I find that doing this blog helps as I can section of the weeks into days and just plan on the next blog update with how things are going. Anyway, I’m happy with the progress and will keep you posted.
Nice weight loss of 1.1KG (2.42lbs) over the past 4 days, and a bonus of my skin starting to look better!
